Snow Mountain River Resole is an official La Sportiva Authorized Resoler. We work on all brands and models of climbing shoes. During the resole process, we use official lasts and rubber straight from La Sportiva’s factory to ensure the best fit, feel, and performance for both neutral and downturned shoes.
Rules for a Resole
- Rule #1: If you have worn through the rubber on the toes and put a hole in the leather, synthetic, or stitching we will not accept them. Holes are very uncomfortable to climb with and busted stitching will compromise the feel and integrity of your shoe. We do not work on leather repair or stitching.
- Rule #2: If the leather of the shoe is old or cracking we will not accept them. Leather that is not properly taken care of will rot, crack and tear upon being resoled, resulting in your shoe being non repairable. It is your responsibility to take proper care of your shoes! They are expensive equipment, treat them as such.
- Rule #3:Please clean your shoes to the best of your ability before dropping them off. If you notice the components of your shoes becoming dirty or if you use lots of powder or chalk on your feet we encourage you to wash them and allow them to air dry overnight. Regardless, I disinfect and wipe down every pair of shoes I receive before working on them. If your shoes have stained or dried blood on them, in any amount, they will not be accepted.
When is my shoe ready for a resole?
When you see the factory edge begin to round over it’s a good idea to inspect your shoes for a resole. You can feel for soft spots on the toes and inspect the line of the sole to make sure it’s not dipping below a straight line. It’s advised that you stop climbing on your shoes once that line starts to dip. If you climb on your shoes past the sole dipping you’ll be climbing on the rand of your shoe making the chances of a hole or toe cap repair much more possible. If you pay attention and catch them in time it will save you money and help ensure that your shoes will hold up to multiple resoles.
Tips on taking care of your shoes before and after a resole.
Examples of taking good care of your shoes are: do not walk around in them in-between climbs, try not to drag your toes when not necessary, do not leave your shoes in your vehicle, keep them out of direct sunlight or heat when not in use, keep chalk, dust, and dirt, out of your shoes. Climbing shoes are all made with glues that will deactivate with heat. Heat and moisture are the most common issues for shoes.
What if my shoes are beyond repair? How can I get my money back?
I will reach out via email or phone call if your shoes are unrepairable to discuss the situation and to decide if you want your shoes mailed back, or if you want them disposed of. I will refund your payment for the repair but you will unfortunately have to eat the cost of shipping the shoes to me. That’s why it’s important to fully inspect your shoes before sending them in!
